Tooling For Composites

Dangar designed and built large RTM mold that produces a carbon fiber wing shroud for the F-18. Tooling system makes use of 25 aluminum inserts incorporating ply drop-offs and strategically located resin and vacuum channels that allow for quick injection time with no resin race tracking. The mold also includes internal thermocouples, cavities heat-sinked to reduce cycle time, and a test coupon area.
